Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association Receives 2009 Environmental Award

Thursday, March 11, 2010 Contact: Kellie Falbo, Executive Director Phone 970-224-3247 RMSLA receives the Environmental Business Ripple Award from the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce Fort Collins, Colorado: The Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce's 105th Annual Dinner on February 25th focused on good news and following that theme, the Chamber honored several local business professionals for their strides in the community. Each year, the Chamber Environmental Business Awards honor member and non-member businesses that make environmental strides in their daily operations, recognize the value of using environmental products to enhance their corporate bottom line, and play an active role in the local and global community. The 2009 Environmental Ripple Awards went to the Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association. The Ripple Award was established to recognize those organizations affecting change in others. The Rocky Mountain Sustainable Living Association's mission is to educate people and communities in the Rocky Mountain region to make healthy sustainable choices. RMSLA has become well known for its annual educational event, the Sustainable Living Fair, the largest event of its kind in the Rocky Mountain region. The Tenth Annual Fair in 2009 drew 12,202 attendees and featured 250 exhibitors, 100 workshops, and hands-on demonstrations and this year's Fair will be held September 18th & 19th. RMSLA also offers a series of year round workshops that help educate people about sustainable living practices, renewable energy systems, sustainable/local agriculture, using backyard gardens more productively, and adopting methods for reducing carbon footprints. As an educational non-profit organization, RMSLA appeals to all of us as users of the earth's natural resources. RMSLA targets those interested in, curious about, or deeply involved in sustainable living options. RMSLA has made tangible changes in the lives of thousands of citizens by providing practical options for everyday living. A sustainable lifestyle ensures that social, environmental and economic systems are viable and offer a healthy and meaningful life for our citizens.
