If you are considering moving off the grid, are already off grid and want a deeper understanding of your power system, want to install an on-grid battery backup system for disaster preparation, or if you want to expand your electrical contracting or grid-tied solar business to  include off-grid solar, wind and hydro power systems, this is the class for you!  Register directly HERE!

Wind Turbine Design & Construction: Hands-On

Workshop Date: August 17th, 2013

dbartmannAugust 17-22nd.  Wind is the most difficult renewable resource to harvest, because it changes wildly and unpredictably compared to more steady solar, hydro and biofuel energy sources. This also makes wind power an excellent teaching tool. The course is also attractive to educators because it is multi-disciplinary, involving math, physics, electrical theory, woodworking, metalworking, welding, and more. During this intensive 6-day wind power “boot camp,” students will fabricate a 12-foot diameter wind turbine *from scratch*, under the guidance of award-winning authors Dan Bartmann and Dan Fink, of “Homebrew Wind Power” fame. Along the way, students will learn every aspect of small wind power from the ground up, including towers, maintenance and economics.  Register directly HERE!

Intro to Small Wind Power

Workshop Date: August 18th, 2013

While solar energy is widely understood at the most basic level by most, wind energy at the small, home scale is far more complicated and is generally misunderstood by both the public and the news media. This course presents all the basics of wind power in an easy-to-understand format, then covers all the important details needed to design and install a successful small wind power system for home or business.  Register directly HERE!
